PRINCE GEORGE, BC — Prince George City Councillor Cori Ramsay announced today that she will seek re-election to City Council, asking residents for their support as she pursues a third term focused on thoughtful growth, strong advocacy, responsible governance, and building a resilient future for Prince George.

First elected in 2018 and re-elected in 2022, Ramsay has spent the past eight years serving residents while advocating for northern communities at the regional, provincial, and national levels. During that time, she has served on numerous committees and advocacy boards focused on finance, accessibility, poverty reduction, emergency management, reconciliation, environmental stewardship, parks, arts and culture, regional governance, and health care.

“Serving the residents of Prince George has been one of the greatest privileges of my life,” said Ramsay. “When I first ran for council, I wanted to make a difference in the community I call home. Over the past eight years, I’ve learned that meaningful progress doesn’t happen through slogans or quick fixes. It takes hard work, collaboration, careful planning, and a willingness to make difficult decisions in the public interest.”

Ramsay said the next council term will be defined by how Prince George manages growth, maintains infrastructure, supports economic resilience, and prepares for future challenges.

“The decisions we make today will shape Prince George for decades to come,” said Ramsay. “My priority is ensuring our city remains financially resilient, maintains the infrastructure and assets residents rely on every day, and is prepared for the opportunities and challenges ahead.”

Ramsay said growth remains important, but it must be planned responsibly.

“I support more housing choice, including multifamily housing and small-scale multi-unit housing, and I support growth within the urban containment boundary. But growth must be supported by infrastructure, transportation networks, water and sewer capacity, and sound financial planning. Growth should strengthen our community, not create costs future taxpayers cannot afford.”

Throughout her time on council, Ramsay has been recognized as a detailed, data-driven decision-maker and a strong advocate for Prince George. In addition to serving on City Council, she has represented northern communities through the North Central Local Government Association, served on the Executive of the Union of BC Municipalities, and currently serves as President of UBCM. She also serves as Chair of the Provinces Poverty Reduction Advisory Committee.

“Many of the issues facing Prince George cannot be solved by local government alone,” Ramsay said. “Whether it’s emergency management, health care, homelessness, addictions, housing, forestry, infrastructure funding, or economic development, we need strong advocates who understand how to work with senior governments and get results for our community.”

“Prince George is an extraordinary community. It is resilient, innovative, generous, and full of people who care deeply about its future. I am proud of what we have accomplished together, but there is still important work ahead. I would be honoured to earn the trust and support of residents for another term.”
